OnePlus is a well known name in the consumer electronics market who held the number one position in the premium smartphones segment in India for a year. In the initial years OnePlus launched the flagship killers at an affordable price to compete with high end premium flagships that had a price double that of OnePlus phones.
OnePlus had always set the prices that would match the performance but people had not pleased with the pricing of OnePlus 8 even though the new smartphone had pretty impressive specs. Oneplus's standout feature is it's UI. oneplus's user interface is one of the best, if not the best in the market among android smartphones. Oxygen OS is pretty fast with lot of customizable options included and it's bloatware free.
OnePlus didn't launch any smartphones under 30k in India after launching the OnePlus 3 series. The midrange smartphone market in India had improved a lot since then as companies are pricing their products aggressively. The midrange market was shaken up when Poco launched Poco F1 starting at 20999 in India which had flagship specifications. Since then many firms tried to attract consumers but didn't gain much popularity as Poco did. Lot of people waited for Poco F1's successor but Poco had not launched a smartphone until the last quarter of 2019.
OnePlus is going to launch OnePlus Nord anytime soon in the near future. The leaks suggest that the launch will take place on 10th of July. The rumoured specs are OnePlus Nord will be equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 765G 5G processor and will be powered by 4500 mAH battery that supports 30W warp charging. The leaked camera specifications shows that it would sport a quad camera setup with 48 MP primary sensor, 16 MP telephoto lens, 8 MP wide angle lens and a dedicated depth sensor.
It's competitors Apple's iPhone SE2 was price at 42k and the upcoming Pixel 4a would definitely be priced at the same point but the specs aren't that Impressive. Considering the global smartphone market OnePlus would price the upcoming OnePlus Nord under 350 USD to compete with the rivals if that turns true OnePlus will start to capture the sub 350$ segment. With Oneplus Nord Oneplus can turn heads and has an opportunity to drive the sub 300$ smartphone segment globally.
The most recent launches of OnePlus suggest that OnePlus is pricing the products relatively low that the estimated prices. For example everyone thought that OnePlus bullets wireless Z will be priced around 100$ dollars but they were launched for 30$ and OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has announced that the upcoming OnePlus TV's will start under 20k in India. Following these we can expect the OnePlus Nord's price around 300$.
